League Format

EBYFL is a Saturday league for U7 to U11 boys and girls playing 7-a-side and U12 to U13 boys and girls and U14 to U18 boys playing 11-a-side. There are not currently any girls teams but if there are sufficient applications then the girls teams shall play on Sundays.

Mixed Boys and Girls

Commencing season 2011-2012 the fomat is mixed boys and gorls football from U7 to U13.

9-A-Side

EBYFL welcomes many of the initiatives in the FA Youth Football Review that has been circulating and the league is aware of and is monitoring the 9-a-side format developments in other neighbouring leagues.

The league is already proven to be a progressive league by virtue that the U11 age group plays 7-a-side football as opposed to 11-a-side which is the norm for the age group.

The format for the U11 age group in EBYFL has always been 7-a-side and will continue to be 7-a-side for the 2011-2012 season.

The format for the U12 age group in EBYFL has always been 11-a-side and will continue to be 11-a-side for the 2011-2012 season.

If 9-a-side were adopted alongside other formats at the same age group then it is likely that each league will comprise less divisions. For example EBYFL at U11 has 4 divisions which are streamed for ability so that even Division 4 teams have a good game of football. If EBYFL were to also run 9-a-side then each format would probably only have 2 divisions each and there would be more cases of very strong teams being matched against very weak teams. The provision of 9-a-side will also place a huge cost burden on clubs to provide extra pitch and goal resources. These concerns also apply to the U12 age group.

EBYFL will pay close attention to the outcome of the FA review and will fully consult with the member clubs when deciding formats for future seasons.

Applications For 2011-2012 Season

Applications open on 01 May and close on 31 May. Applications for next season will not be accepted before these dates and priority will be given to teams entered before the closing deadline.

Shortly before 01 May this website will be taken off-line and rolled forward to the next season which means that all current U7 teams will become U8, U8 become U9 etc all the way to U18.

From 01 May the can use their username and password to login and add/edit/delete their club and team details for next season and can then print off the 2011/2012 Club Agreement Form which will list your club and team details and calculate the correct fees and must be printed out and signed and sent with payment to the league to arrive before 31 May.

Only Club Secretaries should make the final application to the league so please ensure that only the club secretary downloads and prints the 2011/2012 Club Agreement Form. Please do not submit applications using last season's forms - they will NOT be accepted.

All clubs MUST be FA Charter Standard. If your club is a new or existing club in the league and is not yet FA Charter Standard then please contact the League Secretary for advice in the first instance.

The League AGM will take place on Thursday 16 June 2011 and clubs that are not represented may not be admitted to the league. Clubs seeking to join the league must attend the AGM and there will be a vote to accept these new clubs into the association.
